In order to meet state and federal requirements as well as University policy, University employees and students may be required to take mandatory training on specific topics. Many of the mandatory compliance training topics must have the course completed on an annual basis.

UA Faculty, Staff and Student Employees

All current and new faculty, staff, and student employees are required to take annual training on Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting, Harassment Prevention, Hazard Communication, and Title IX. Annual training on other topics may be required based on employment status, work environment, and/or job responsibilities:

  • Academic Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
  • Alabama State Ethics Laws
  • Alabama Department of Mental Health (Bryce Hospital and Harper Center)
  • FERPA
  • HIPAA
  • Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy
  • PCI DSS
  • UA Code of Ethical Conduct

Effective January 1, 2020 mandatory compliance training for all UA employees moved to a calendar year cycle. All employees are required to complete their annual training during a 60-day window, regardless of when they were required to complete training in prior years.

UA LMS is the learning management system used to provide required compliance training to University employees and guests.  Faculty, staff, and student employees will be notified of required training through their supervisors and by email notification sent to the employees’ myBama (or Crimson) email address. New hires will be assigned the required training and receive the email notification within two weeks of their hire date once they’ve been added to the payroll system.

Employees can access UA LMS through their Employee Tab in MyBama.

Training Academy is the system used to provide mandatory Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance training to University employees and students. Specific EHS training may be assigned based on employment status, work environment, and/or job responsibilities. For questions regarding assignments or access to Training Academy contact Environmental Health & Safety.
