Bama Perks is your UA discount program designed to inform the UA community about local businesses offering discounts to employees.
In order to meet state and federal requirements as well as University policy, faculty, staff and student employees of the University may be required to take mandatory training on specific topics. Many of the mandatory compliance training topics must have the course or a refresher course completed on an annual basis.
Click the link below for detailed information on the current training requirements which apply to all University employees. Other training may be assigned to employees based on job duties, employment status or work environment.
Elder care Resources
Human Resources has developed four steps that can help you prepare for taking care of an elderly person. Employee can access tools and resources that help address responsibilities of elder care.
One of the methods The University of Alabama uses for emergency notification is UA Alerts. In an emergency, University Relations will activate the system, sending telephone calls (work, cell, and/or home), e-mail, and text (SMS) messages simultaneously to the campus community.
Employee Assistance Program
The University’s EAP Program provides employees and their family members with resources for resolving work related and personal problems including: marital, parent-child, substance abuse, stress, and personal budgeting. The program provides free assessment, short-term counseling, and referral services.
The University provides generous paid leave time to staff members, including: annual, sick, holiday, jury duty, and bereavement leave.
The University of Alabama offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment plans to eligible employees.
UA employees have access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities here on campus. The Human Resources Department of Learning and Development is committed to providing access to learning experiences for employees that promote performance improvement and professional development.
New Parent Resources
The University provides lactation rooms for nursing mothers on campus as well as other resources that are beneficial to new parents.

The University of Alabama’s Flexible Spending Account program for dependent care provides University employees the opportunity to create a pre-tax account to help pay for dependent care expenses. The program is administered through FlexCorp.
