The University of Alabama is committed to maintaining a family-friendly workplace and supporting the health and well-being of our faculty, staff and students. With these goals in mind, and with new mandates established by recent amendments to the Fair Labor Standards Act as part of the Health Care Reform Act, The University of Alabama has established a number of nursing mothers’ rooms in locations around campus. The rooms are designated to provide nursing mothers returning to work or school with a private space to manage lactation responsibilities while on campus.
