2012 - 2013 Student Employee of the Year Award

The Department of Human Resources invites all student employee supervisors to nominate eligible, outstanding student employees for the University’s fifth-annual Student Employee of the Year Award. The ideal nominee is an individual who best embodies the contributions and achievements of students who work while attending The University of Alabama.

The winner of the UA Student Employee of the Year Award will be announced at a recognition event for all nominees and their supervisors during National Student Employment Week, April 8-12, 2013.

The University of Alabama’s Student Employee of the Year will compete at the regional level and may also compete nationally. If this student is later selected as National Student Employee Association’s (NSEA) National Student Employee of the Year, he or she will also receive a $1,000 award presented by NSEA.

Eligibility Requirements:
Students eligible to receive this award include University of Alabama undergraduate or graduate Student Assistant employees and Work-Study student employees working in hourly, on-campus positions.

In order to be eligible for consideration, student employees must have worked a minimum of six months part-time (or three months full-time), during the selection period. For 2013, the selection period is for work performed from June 1, 2012 through May 31, 2013.
Please note: Graduate Assistants and Graduate Teaching Assistants paid monthly or receiving stipends/tuition waivers are not eligible.

Nomination Requirements:
Nominations should focus on qualities that set the nominee apart from other student employees, and the impact their work has on your department and the University. Nomination letters should describe accomplishments of the nominee which you feel qualify him/her to be considered for the Student Employee of the Year Award.

Nominations for all student employees must be submitted by the student employee’s immediate supervisor only. Additional letters of recommendation from supporting staff may be attached to the nomination. Information provided may be shared with the public through press releases and other promotional opportunities.
All nominations should be submitted online by February 15, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
