Mail Order Drug Program

MAIL ORDER PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM CHANGE – OCTOBER 2007

The University’s Blue Cross Medical Insurance Plan utilized the mail order services of PharmaCare for our mail order prescription drug program until October 1, 2007. PharmaCare and Caremark merged and effective October 1, 2007, our mail order prescriptions have been filled through Caremark.

PRESCRIPTIONS ON FILE WITH PHARMACARE ON OCTOBER 1, 2007:

On October 1, 2007, University employees’ prescriptions on file with PharmaCare with refills remaining were automatically transferred to Caremark. Refills for these prescriptions can be ordered online through the Blue Cross website at www.bcbsal.com. Employees may also order refills over the phone by calling Caremark at 1-888-766-5490.

NEW PRESCRIPTIONS AFTER OCTOBER 1, 2007:

Employees requesting mail order service on new prescriptions should complete the Caremark Mail Service Order Form and return it to Caremark. For a new maintenance drug prescription, an employee should ask his doctor for an initial 30-day supply to be filled a local pharmacy and a prescription for the maintenance quantity to be filled through the Mail Order Prescription Drug Service. This will ensure that medication will be available to the employee while the mail order request is processed by Caremark.
